Your adventure begins today with a welcome meeting at 6 pm where you'll meet your tour leader and fellow travelers – check with hotel reception to confirm the location. As there's little free time included in Casablanca on this trip. The city is famous for its art deco buildings. A pleasant way to spend a day exploring Casablanca is to wander the old medina and the city walls, or take it easy with a glass of sweet mint tea in one of the many great cafes. you depart around 08:30am by coach for the city of Chefchaouen. Known for its distinctive blue-washed buildings, Chefchaouen is perched on the foothills of the Rif Mountains. Its name comes from a Berber phrase that means “watch the horns,” a reference to the Jebel Tisouka and Megou mountains that rise dramatically above the city like a pair of horns. In the afternoon, you’ll continue your drive to the “Blue City” check in to your hotel in the heart of Chefchaouen’s medina. Depending on where you stay, your riad; a traditional Moroccan house built around an interior courtyard that has been converted into a comfortable, rustic guesthouse.
Your trip leader will then lead a short orientation walk to introduce you to this vibrant city. You'll also take the time to discuss the smoking of hashish, a controversial pastime that has become relatively common in Morocco, despite being illegal. Included meals: B, D.
Right after eating your breakfast, you’ll head to the nearby village to meet a local family for a hands-on cooking lesson in the countryside, enjoying the beautiful scenery of towering mountains. Your hosts will tell you about farming in Northern Morocco as you select our ingredients from their garden, and then you’ll join them in the kitchen to prepare a regional, seasonal meal, like harira, a traditional soup served during the month of Ramadan, or tagine, a slow-cooked savory stew.
After that, you’ll return to Chefchaouen for a walking tour of its medina. you'll also enjoy a great discussion on Mountain Berber culture of the North with a local woman who will tell you all about anything that concern our curiosity. Meals: B, L
After breakfast, you leave the beautiful town of Chefchouen and heading south. you will first stop to see archaeological site of Volubilis, enjoy the tour of the ancient hilltop ruins and discover the town’s fantastic mosaics along the Decumanus Maximum. Continue to nearby city of Meknes. You will enjoy a lunch with a local family and interact with this happy family. After that, you enjoy the sightseeing of Meknes with the local guide. In the 17th century Sultan Moulay Ismail turned Meknes from a provincial town to a spectacular Imperial city. You will visit the huge granary of the founder Moulay Ismail (lahri swani), then admire the beautiful gate all over Morocco known as Bab Mansour. After looking around, you head to Fes. This evening is a great time to engage in pastilla demonstration. enjoying a cooking demonstration, learning to create one of the city's signature dishes – pastilla (or b’stilla) – a salty and sweet pastry parcel. Take a guided tour of Fes. You will drive first to see the main entrance of a huge Royal palace, then take a short walk through the Jews quarter known as Mellah to admire its beautiful architecture. After that you drive to enjoy one of the most panoramic view overlooking the 9th century Medina of Fes. You might visit a ceramic factory where you can learn traditional handmade pottery being made. Afterwards, you take a walking tour inside the Medina which is alive with craftsmen, markets, tanneries and mosques. Look out for the Medersa Bou Inania, one of the city's most beautiful buildings, which has recently been restored and is now open to tourists. Your local leader will guide you on a 'tasting trail' along the way today. Meals: B, L
Leave the city of Fes behind and heading to Midelt(approximately 4 hours). you will climb the range of Middle Atlas Mountains before you stop for café and facilities in the beautiful town of Ifrane. After that, you drive through the beautiful plateau of Middel Atlas where the berbers graze their animals. On the way you might stop to enjoy a fresh mint tea with the berber semi-nomadic family. You will interact with the family and learn from them. Afterwards, you continue to Zaida village where you stop to enjoy a home hosted meal with the berber family. You will have a lamb tajine which is the main dish of the berbers. In the afternnon, you take a walk and explore the nearby village of Berram and take a closer look at local farming life. Enjoy a stunning drive towards the Sahara Desert (approx. 5 hrs). You will have opportunities to stop and admire the panoramic views of the Kasbahs and palm groves (valleys lush with date palms, fields and orchards). Enjoy a demonstration of medfouna (also called 'Berber pizza'), a traditional bread stuffed with meat, herbs and spices by the nomadic peoples of the Sahara Desert. This hearty delicacy is a great introduction to the cuisine of the desert region. Later today you will take a camel ride into the edge of the Sahara Desert, enjoying a spectacular sunset along the way. After breakfast prepare for a long drive filled with stunning landscapes on the way to the M'Goun Valley. You will enjoy the countryside. Stop at Lkhorbat to visit a berber museum. Then you continue driving to Todra gorge where you will have a short walk to admire this beautiful gorge. Dinner this evening will be a feast of mechoui - slow-cooked lamb on the spit - lovingly prepared by your hosts. Included meals: B, D.
Today you will have the whole day in this beautiful valley. You will be accompanied by the local guide for a walk. You pass through berber villages, meeting local berbers along the way, visiting a berber family for a fresh mint tea. In the afternoon, it depends on the season, you will be accompanied by the women of the village to live a real experience by working in farm and bringing grass to the animals. You will be like locals. In the evening, you will join your group leader for a couscous demonstration. Included meals: B, D.
Today you are bound for your final destination. On the way stop in to a women's cooperative working on the production of Argan oil, endemic to Morocco and used for both culinary and cosmetic purposes. Marrakech is a feast for the senses. Upon arrival a local guide will take you on an orientation walk and tasting trail. Be enticed by the alluring scents and brilliant colors of the spice markets, the sounds of the musicians... When night falls on this square it transforms in to a hive of activity. Henna-painters, performers and storytellers share the square with a street food bazaar, packed with stalls loaded with Moroccan delicacies, including snail soup. This evening, you head for a food testing. You will test some Moroccan donuts with some tea, some nuts, olives, roasted lamp, we end our testing food at the main and great square of Jemaa el Fna one of the largest public spaces in the world and unique to Marrakech. Today you will enjoy a street. Then, rise for a hands-on cooking class with a celebrated local chef. You will explore his organic kitchen garden surrounded by beautiful olive groves and orchards set in a traditional Berber village. Harvest ingredients fresh from the garden and let the chef teach you the art of seasoning with aromatic Moroccan herbs. Learn to cook tagines and salads, and then savor your creations over a delicious lunch. Return to the city for a guided tour of some of the famed sites of Marrakech, including the Palais Bahia, a superb example of Muslim architecture, as well as the well-known Koutoubia Mosque and its 12th-century minaret, which was the famous prototype for the Giralda tower in Seville.
